A Little History on Fouquet's
"In 1899, Louis Fouquet purchases a coachmen's tavern Located at the corner of the Champs Elysées and Avenue George V and names it "Fouquet's", in style with the British trend at the time.
The 1930's are marked by the opening of the first movie theater on the Champs Elysées; a new generation of actors contributes to the international fame of Fouquet's.
Raimu uses it as his office, Gabin and Michèle Morgan meet there Famous film directors such as Carné; Clouzot and Guitry come here to sign contracts.
In the 1950's, the new Wave embodied by Truffaut, Godard, Chabrol takes over the place.
In 1976, Fouquet's is purchased by Maurice Casanova who creates the Molieres and Cesar dinners as well as numerous literary and culinary prizes.
In 1990, Fouquet's is registered as part of the historic Buildings and becomes officially
a high spot of French culture.
1998, is marked by the purchase of the establishement by the Lucien Barrière group .
